the 520 graves in the cemetery at Fontenay-le-Pesnel, 457
belong to British soldiers, 4 to Canadians and 59 to
German soldiers.
Most of these men died during the Epsom offensive (or
Battle of the Odon), which was launched at the end of June 1944 in
an attempt to outflank Caen to the west.
