In
the cemetery of Saint-Charles-de-Percy are the graves of 786 British
soldiers and 3 Canadians.
Most of these men were killed during
Operation Bluecoat, launched by the Second British Army at the
beginning of August 1944, from Caumont-l’Eventé in the direction of
Vire.
Even today, the remains of soldiers, notably airmen, are
occasionally found in the Normandy countryside, and this is where they
are laid to rest.
