Located near the historic Pegasus Bridge site, Ranville Cemetery holds 2,564 graves, including those of 2,154 British soldiers, 76 Canadians, 3 New Zealanders, 1 Australian, 1 Belgian and one unidentified body. 322 of them belong to German soldiers.

Some bodies lie in the communal cemetery next to the military one, including that of Lieutenant Brotheridge, the first Allied soldier to die on French soil, who fell while crossing Bénouville Bridge.
